FAQ
What newcomers ask us
Do I need to be religious to come?
No. Most of the people at our table aren't. You'll be welcome whatever you know, keep or believe.
Is there a membership fee?
No, and there never has been. Everything is open to every Jew. People who are able support it with a gift.
What should I wear?
What you'd wear to a nice dinner with friends. Men are offered a kippah at the door; women often wear a skirt or dress to services, but nobody checks.
Can I bring my kids?
Please do. Kids are part of every Shabbat and holiday here, and there are toys in the back for the little ones.
Is the food kosher?
Yes, everything we serve is kosher, from a kitchen under the Rabbi's supervision.
I don't read Hebrew. Will I be lost?
No. Our prayer books have English beside every line, and the Rabbi explains as he goes.
Where do I park?
On the side street, free after 5 pm and all day on Shabbat. The Commerce Street garage is two minutes' walk.
My partner isn't Jewish. Are we both welcome?
Yes. Come together, sit together, and ask anything you want.
I'm visiting San Antonio for a few days. Can I join for Shabbat?
Yes — sign up for Friday dinner on the Events page, or call and we'll find you a seat.
How do I get involved?
Come to a Shabbat dinner, join a class, or volunteer for a holiday. Tell the Rebbetzin what you're good at; she'll find you something.
